Purpose and activities: Emphasis on education, community and civic betterment, health and human services, nutrition, hunger and food safety, and arts and culture.

Employee Matching Gifts: The foundation matches gifts to all full-time employees, qualifying temporary and part-time employees, and members of ConAgra Foods board of

directors. The foundation matches dollar-for-dollar charitable contributions to higher educational institutions from $25 up to $2,000 per gift, per year.

 

Employee-Related Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded to eligible children of company employees through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and Scholarship America, Inc.; in addition, two National Achievement Scholarships are given annually to minority students.

 

Feeding Children Better: To attack child hunger, ConAgra Foods developed Feeding Children Better, a multi-million-dollar commitment to help solve the problem. This initiative brings together the nation's leading resources and expertise to attack child hunger through an innovative partnership between ConAgra Foods, America's second largest food company; America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic charitable hunger-relief organization; and Brandeis University Center on Hunger and Poverty. The program is a strategic approach to improve the charitable food distribution system in the U.S., consisting of three major components: 1) expanding Kids Cafes to provide hungry children with meals in a safe, nurturing environment that feeds the whole child; 2) streamlining the collection and distribution of donated food to get it to hungry families faster and cheaper; and 3) raising awareness about the hidden nature of childhood hunger.

 

Scholarships: The foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors through National Future Farmers of America for students planning to attend the agribusiness program at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

No grants to individuals (except for scholarships), or for endowment funds, emergency funding, conferences, seminars, workshops or resulting symposia or publications, underwriting sponsorship or radio or television programming, advertising, travel or tours, or fundraising or testimonial events or dinners; no product donations.
